Please note that Bachelor’s programme is taught in Czech only.

The aim of studies is to provide the student with solid foundations for possible follow-up in form of Master’s programme of the same name. The graduates also gain respectable knowledge for practical employment.

The graduates of Medical Electronics and Bioinformatics gain wide theoretical mathematics-physics foundations as well as knowledge from the areas of electrical engineering, electronics, informatics and computer sciences complemented by biomedical basics and medical applications.

Studies

The student shall learn much during the three year studies – how do modern medicinal apparati work or how a computer can help a doctor by e.g. determining a diagnosis. The studies also include programming, data and image analysis. There is also anatomy, physiology and genetics from biological point of view. As a part of studies at CTU FEE a general mathematics-physics overview is also granted.

In the first year the foundations for upcoming years are built. This includes mathematics, physics, introduction to electrotechnics, basics of programming and also anatomy and physiology.

The second year is dedicated mainly to electrotechnics and signal processings, also biophysics and genetics. The profiling of the student according to his interests also starts thanks to the selection of compulsory elective subjetcs.

In the third year the student may expect more specific courses such as optimization, machine learning or digital image processing. The conclusion of Bachelor’s programme is the Bachelor thesis. Students regularly collaborate on solutions to real-life problems and therefore they can gain praxis even during their studies.

Graduate profile

The graduate has a good foundation for continuing in some of the available specializations of Master’s programme of the same name.

However, the graduate also has solid knowledge and practical skills to put into practical use since the demand for specialists is great in the field of medicinal electrical engineering. He may utilize his knowledge in e.g. medical workplaces or companies that have interest in medical technologies.

In general, the graduate has the following at his disposal:

  • Knowledge of mathemtics and physics basics, the laws of electrical and electronical circuits and the ability to develop them.
  • Basic understanding of computer sciences, communication systems, algoritimzation and principles of programming and artificial intelligence.
  • The ability to measure and process signals and data, create analyses and visualize the results.
  • Basic knowledge of human body, internal biological processes of a man and principles of modern laboratory and medicinal apparati.

The gradutes obtain the title of Bc. and a university diploma and also importantly significant personal contacts from academic, medicinal and company environment.
