General Information

To the best of our knowledge, the course is currently offered only in Czech.

The biomedical engineer accreditation was omitted as part of the 2018 reaccreditation of the BIO program. Master’s students have the opportunity to immerse themselves more in professional technical subjects and do not have to focus on, for example, legislation related to the operation and development of medical devices. If BIO students decide to work as a biomedical engineer in a hospital or company, they need to complete their qualification (Accredited Qualification Course). This is possible at the Institute for Postgraduate Medical Education (IPVZ) in Prague. General information can be found below, and the Teams group is used to coordinate the current applicants. To join the group, please contact Filip Šlapal.

Detail information

  • Application condition: graduation from an accredited master’s degree course or programme in electrical engineering accompanied by a certified copy of the diploma with its supplement (if issued) and a certificate of the state final examination (translated, for the original reference check the czech version)
  • To make the course economically viable, a minimum of 10 people must be found to open the course
  • The opening is always planned six months in advance. The earliest realistic opening date is now September 2025 (would have to be arranged during April 2025)
  • Some vocational courses would be recognised on the basis of diplomas and supplements to be handed in on application (for those candidates who will have completed their studies by May 2025 there will be no problem to deliver after graduation)
  • As part of the course, you need to do a two-week internship in a hospital, which can also be credited retrospectively
  • Price of the course depending on the range of recognized subjects approx. 20.000 CZK – 30.000 CZK
  • Biomedical engineers with qualifications are not only sought directly by hospitals, but are also sought by some companies that develop/manage hospital devices
  • Biomedical engineers are still in great demand all over the country, also because less than half of the students from Kladno go to hospitals
